IBP: Repurposing Cabinet Doors

Sure to be one of the most popular episodes, today I share great ideas on repurposing used cabinet doors. Along with tips and tricks, and my favorite resource to purchased used home goods.

WATCH MY CABINET DOORS

Add two layers of vinyl for a very cool personalized look. (Vinyl from Brookie Craft)

Add a favorite word or phrase in vinyl to a painted cabinet door.

Add a door knob to the top of a long cabinet door and hang a small decorative wreath from it. This is my most favorite piece out of all of them.

I added adhesive backed cork board to the center of one cabinet door. Then I added some painted knobs along the bottom using E6000 glue.

Create a fun photo holder by gluing bulldog clips along a painted cabinet door. I then drilled holes on each side and threaded wide ribbon through the holes and tied in a bow on the front.

Try layering your a quote with two different colors of vinyl. This piece I also added a decorative wood piece at the top to create a more custom piece.

Don't forget to PRIME, prime, prime your cabinet doors. Take it from someone that tried to skip this step, you need to prime laminated cabinet doors if you want your paint to stick well.
Try sanding off the edges with sandpaper and applying Minwax stain finish. I'll show you how easy this step can be.
Here's a piece that was painted cream and then I added the stain finish to it after sanding off the edges.
Consider using the Imaginisce i-Magicut Ribbon Cutter and Sealer tool to cut those home decor ribbons with so they don't fray.

Disclaimer: Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration but not all pins lead to blogs. I tried to only pick those ideas that I could find the original creator and give credit to. Please take a moment and check out these great blogs because without them I wouldn't have content to talk about on the new My Craft Channel show Inspired by Pinterest.  If you've never been to Pinterest and would like to check it out, you need an invite to the site to gain access (I don't know why). Just leave me a comment with your email and I'll send you an invite. However, I cannot be responsible for the time you will be spending on Pinterest!!

Host a Pinterest Party

Have you heard about a PINTEREST PARTY? The minute I read about this I was so excited and I cannot wait to put one together soon with some of my friends. So since I love the idea so much and I cannot invite you all to my home to be part of my Pinterest Party, I thought I'd share where the idea came from and you can learn from some pros. And we can be planning our own Pinterest Parties all over the world!!

First off, it started on Pinterest. I found a pin that was labeled "Pinterest Party" and my curiosity was peeked. So I clicked over to Fancy Little Things website, she was the host and then found links to some of the attendees too, so I hopped over to Flamingo Toes blog and another blog post from one of the girls that coordinated the party over at Daily Grommet in her blog post, Beyond the Pin, Pinterest Party Fun

How to Host a Pinterest Party
1. Determine what "Pinterest Inspired Projects" you want to create. Knowing my friends if I gave them choices they'd pick them all, so I think it would be easier to pick the projects I want to create. Or put each person in charge of a different project...that might be fun too!
2. Ask your friends to pitch in $20 or so to help cover the costs of the supplies. They of course may vary based on which craft projects you pick.

3. Set the date. Invite your Friends. And of course, ask everyone to bring yummy food to share...because what's the point of a party if there's no food involved. I hosted a scrapbooking crop one time and asked everyone to bring their favorite "appetizer" to share and that was one of my favs, but hey dessert party would work too!

So let's all plan our Pinterest Parties for this summer!! Let me know when you do and blog about it, I'd love to link up and share with my readers.
