Crafters Challenge: Vinyl Christmas Home Decor Plate

I was recently challenged by my friends at Oh My Crafts to create a fun project with a box of goodies they shipped to me for part of a "Crafter's Challenge." So with the help of my Silhouette and some Holiday Music playing in the background...I got to work on this beautifully, simply Holiday Platter. Learn how to emboss vinyl and create 3D flowers using vinyl too!

Did you know you can emboss vinyl using your embossing folders? However, it has to be "brushed metal vinyl" in order for it to hold the emboss... regular vinyl does't keep the shape. I have to say I could totally stock up on this fun product and it comes in silver and gold!

First cut out your design or words using your electronic cutter or die cut machine.
Then place the vinyl piece(s) in your embossing folder of choice and run through your embossing machine (Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Spellbinders machine, etc).
Don't forget to use your "Transfer Tape" to place the words on your project. I could not do all my vinyl projects without this great product.
Now this part I'm super excited to share. Vinyl is a great medium to use for 3D projects too, but of course we have to deal with the adhesive backing.
I've found it works best to back your project with coordinating pattern paper.
This is how the 3D flower pieces all looked before I assembled them.
I thought the spiky 3D flower I downloaded from Silhouette were the perfect poinsettias!!
Then hot glue your flowers to the plate and your done. This project shouldn't take you more then 30-60 minutes. And I have to say, I LOVED that the plate was pre-painted a lovely ivory. You could certainly repaint it, but I thought this worked out great in the end.

(Note: I'll try and replace the finish project photos with better ones with the SUN comes out.)

Thanks to Oh My Crafts for fun challenge. They're a great place to find a ton of products and bundles at a great price. They ship internationally for a great rate and I personally like the peeps there!!

I LOVE the way you embossed your letters! That giant & sign is so fun too. I'm loving your Christmas plate. They sent me Halloween stuff. :)
