IBP Textured Sign Technique

Join me today as I share a fun textured paint technique to make all your sign projects really stand out. Thanks to the help of my longtime crafting buddy, Andrea McAllister I will walk you through step-by-step so you can create awesome textured signs too! Be sure to follow Lori on Pinterest for other inspiring ideas: http://pinterest.com/allreddesign

You will want to use a photo texture cream or gel medium from the art
department at most craft stores.
Step 1: Use the Gel Medium to coat the surface - be sure
to create a design like swirls or chevron or brush strokes. Let
dry completely before proceeding.
Step 2: Spray Paint the color you want to show up when you sand
and makes your texture pop. Let dry.

Step 3: Spray paint the color you want your "words" to be on your
sign, mine are white so I added a layer of white spray paint. Let dry.

Step 4: Add your vinyl cut out, make sure you apply it well and seal
the edges as much as possible. Then spray pain the color you
want around your words (mine is red) and let dry.

Step 5: Peal off the vinyl.
Step 6: Sand the surface - be sure to go all different directions to
make the texture pop. Clean off with a cloth and spray light coat
of clear varnish.

Disclaimer: Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration but not all pins lead to blogs. I tried to only pick those ideas that I could find the original creator and give credit to. Please take a moment and check out these great blogs because without them I wouldn't have content to talk about on the new My Craft Channel show Inspired by Pinterest.

If you've never been to Pinterest and would like to check it out, you need an invite to the site to gain access (I don't know why). Just leave me a comment with your email and I'll send you an invite. However, I cannot be responsible for the time you will be spending on Pinterest!!
