Inspired by Pinterest: Tool Charms

Join me today on the latest episode of Inspired by Pinterest on My Craft Channel as I show you how to create custom "tool charms" or tags that identify your tools from your fellow crafters. These darling charms can be added to scissors, staplers, rulers, punches and more to make sure everyone knows they are yours (and so much cuter then writing on your tools with a marker).

IBP Jewelry with Callie from The Bead Farm

If you like making jewelry, consider yourself a bead "collector" or even appreciate a handmade jewelry piece,  then you will love Callie from The Bead Farm. This local shop happens to be one of my favorite go-to Girls Night Out locations. No need to invest in the tools and beads just to have them sit in a box at home, learn why making a date with a favorite local shop is a lot less expensive and more fun. Be sure to like The Bead Farm on Facebook and check below for other posts about the fun projects I have created over the years with Callie's help.

Here's some blog posts I've done about The Bead Farm...like I said I'm a huge fan!!

Using my i-top to make a Button Bracelet

I should be going to bed after packing to go to Archiver's Scrapfest at Mall of America in Minnesota tomorrow morning!! But instead I am up playing with my i-top tool and making a charm bracelet. The black & white and hot pink felt pieces are i-top Button Daddies I covered in fabric. I then added them to a charm bracelet using jump rings. My cute friend gave me the other charms to add to the bracelet. It's not quite finished...I want more fabric covered buttons.
Did you notice I added some clear rhinestone bling with my i-rock tool to the felt button?? So fun and I loved how it turned out!

Playing with the new "snap daddies" that allow you to create a topper with a snap on the back. It snaps into a ring or hair bobbie. I want to try this with some photos or pattern paper, but until then I'll just use some fabric I have! Sorry the photo is blurry!
Medium Snap Daddy w/ Ring

If you don't know what the i-top Tool from Imaginisce...check out this youTube video.  One of the best investments I made for paper crafting, home decor and now jewelry.

Swiss Days Craft Fair Review & Favorite Finds

Every Labor Day weekend begins one of my favorite events, Swiss Days. This is held every year in Midway, Utah. The festival offers lots of fun entertainment, parade and local events...but it's the craft fair that everyone flocks to Midway to enjoy! But you have to get there early, I've seen many booths sell out of hot items before 10/11:00am the first day. In fact, one booth mentioned that women were there waiting to buy from her booth as early as 6:45am...not me, we arrive around 9:00ish every year and are done by lunch.

I had hoped to make a few purchases when I go home by visiting vendor websites, but crafty people are spending more time making their products then focusing on how to sell them to the masses. So many of my favorite finds do not offer online purchasing options (so sad)...so you'll have to join me next year if one catches your eye!! Enjoy....

Heather Castillow Jewelry Designs
I've seen the number of jewelry booths increase over the years at Swiss Days and this year did not disappoint. However after a couple of watch band purchases and my mom going a little crazy in a few jewelry booths we happened upon Heather's booth. Let me tell you the quality of her WORK was amazing. She makes every bead and sculputured wire and I loved her tiny beaded necklaces and soooo much more. But since I'm on a budget I refrained from going a little crazy in hopes that she would have more available to purchase online....regretfully that was not the case, yet another vendor that doesn't have their products available online...YET. She promises to contact everyone via email when she gets her site up and running and also lists some local stores that carry her creations. She is one I will save up for so I can buy it all in person next year!

Vinylicious Designs
The other day I stopped in to Pebbles in Provo and was surprised they were selling sheets of vinyl. Couldn't figure out what I'd do with it. But then at Swiss Days I came to the Vinylicious booth and was so excited. I loved the covered composition books they had and how you could swap out the book once you've used it up and keep the vinyl cover. Too cute!! Here's a link to their site, but it looks like if you're interested in purchasing from her, you'll need to hit a store in Salt Lake. One day these vendors will get a clue and have the same items available for purchase online some how...go figure!

Photo Boards
Regretfully the website for this product is still under construction, but this was one of my most favorite finds I found at Swiss Days this year. These photo boards from Timeless Woods are totally my style and the wood slats have tiny grooves in them so you can slide your 4x6 photos into it. Easy to change out and keep up to date. Some of the board designs would allow both landscape and portrait orientation for the photos. Some were plain with no titles and in different colors. These are manufactured in Orem Utah and beautiful in person. I didn't purchase one because I couldn't get in the booth and this year I didn't want to carry it around.
Twin Stitchers
I'm a big fan of stitchery patterns...actually do them sometimes (that's another blog post). But I happened upon this cute booth that was selling these cute stitchery patterns called Twin Stitchers

Wicked Sole
This was a booth a desperately tried to get in to...but only because a friend in passing showed me her purchase. The Wicked Sole booth was filled with these darling witches boots with varied themes, but it was the hair clips that I was drawn to (occupational hazard). The flower clips were made from felted wool, etc and soooo yummy. However, I could barely look in the booth let alone go inside and check it out. Again, I asked for a business card or website. Regretfully their website is only a small sampling of what they offered with promise for more later (soooo frustrating).
Can't wait again for next year...but I'm thinking I need to be there before 8am. Remember, Swiss Days is always the weekend of Labor Day. The craft fair portion runs all day Friday and Saturday of that weekend! And maybe one year I'll actually decide to stand in line to get one of those darn SCONES...never get one because the lines are toooooooo long!

Favorite Finds: Cards, Apple Brownies & More

Here's some great finds for this week, I hope you enjoy them. Be sure to follow my blog I hope to offer some great giveaways soon.

Fin-tastic Cards by Nichol Magouirk
Oh how I wish I had the time to learn how to use Copic markers because I already own these fun Snag'em Stamps from Imaginisce. The amazing Nichol Magouirk created these lovely cards with the Splash Dance Snag'em Stamps and copic markers. Don't you just love the googly eyes? Be sure to follow Nichol's blog for more inspiring ideas.

Apple Brownies
Another great recipe from Gourmet Mom on the Go. They're yummy apple brownies, which I actually made for a family lunch today and received RAVE reviews on. I cooked mine in an 9x13 pan and not a pie pan, but they taste the same no matter the pan. The apples make the cake part very moist and my daughter gave it two thumbs up. Not sure why they're called "brownies" though...nothing brown about these. Everyone especially liked the sugar sprinkles on top with caramel drizzle!! Try them out, they're very simple to make and one I'll be making again!
Apple Brownies
Ingredients:
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 C. flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
3 large or 4 small apples, peeled and diced
granulated sugar (for sprinkling on top after baking)
Caramel Ice Cream topping (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Choose your pan size: either a 9 x 13 pan, two pie pans, or a pie pan and four mini-loaf pans. Spray with nonstick cooking spray. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and apples. Mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with sugar.

Flower Earrings
I love these itty bitty flowers earrings by Allora Handmade. She makes the loveliest flowers necklaces and headbands, but these totally caught my eye. I was thinking I'd make me some of these, but knowing my schedule it might be easier to just buy them from her etsy shop! But here's a link on another blog that shows how to make these earrings.

Butterfly Wall Framed Collage
Don't you just love butterflies? And I love ones made from yummy scrapbook papers too. But what a clever idea to create this beautiful framed piece. You can see more pictures of this on The Idea Door Blog.

Ruffled Zipper Ballet Flats
I know I've posted about these before, but I found these on Shannon Makes Stuff blog and thought they were cuter and she shows you how she did it step-by-step instructions on how to make these.

Spray Painted Pillows
Would you believe that these darling pillows were spray painted? The crafty talent behind This Thrify House blog shows you how to create these with canvas fabric, freezer paper and a can of spray paint. Oh the ideas that started flowing through my idea when I saw these are endless...especially when I combine it with the fun designs from Cricut...watch out for a future post on what I create with this inspiring idea!

Free Twilight T-Shirt Designs
I found this lovely little blog called All Things Thrifty Home Accessories and Decor and after looking through pages of fun projects, I happened upon her many great t-shirt designs she posted on her blog. She even gives them to you in a download that is mirrored so you can print direct to your t-shirt transfer sheets. This is one of her many great designs, but be sure to check out the other designs she created in this post, and this post, this post and this post.
Sorry I"ve been slow to post these past couple of weeks...so busy with work that I find very little time to focus on my blog, which makes me sad.

Favorite "Twilight Inspired" Finds

How could I possibly resist posting about Twilight on this special day? You see for those of you have been dead or simply don't care, this is the day I get to go see Eclipse. It's the 3rd movie in the Twilight Saga. Of course having read the book all twice I already know what happens, but I have to say this is on of my favorite ones out of the entire series and I'm very thrilled for it. I was even more thrilled when I scored tickets for me, a friend, my daughter and her friend for a private premier showing at 6:00pm rather then having to go see it at midnight. Did you know here in Utah that we sell more tickets the first day/night then anywhere else?? Go figure?!!

Custom Twilight T-Shirts & More
I thought this was so clever. You can pick Jacob or Edward and then the CafePress site customizes your t-shirts, bags and etc with your NAME on them. Loved the idea, but didn't find it until just now...so I won't be showing up wearing my new Jacob...I mean Edward shirt (wink).

Edward Necklace by Margie
This beauty was created by my friend Margie Romney-Aslett and like all things Margie, this girl knows how to bling out a piece of jewelry. Regretfully I would have much preferred to take her class on this then buy a kit...and I found out about it too late. Wouldn't this have rocked to have for the movie premier.

Twilight on Etsy
I had no idea that there was so much Twilight inspired things on ETSY. Holy cow these women are either spending way too much time making things about the movies or actually making money off those women that are so obsessed they buy it. This particular shop made me laugh the most.

Twilight Inspired Cupcakes
A co-worker sent me a link to a local business called So Cupcake. He was telling me that his wife and some friends from the neighborhood are going to see the new Eclipse movie, but before they're stopping by So Cupcakes to try out one of their new cupcakes.Regretfully they didn't have pictures of their cupcakes on their website (sniffle), but the descriptions were so worth posting here (see below). You have to read through them and if you have a chance to stop by their shop, eat one for me!!

"BITE BACK cupcakes"Take advantage of this tasty opportunity to take a "bite" out of your favorite vampire or wolf. In cupcake form of course! These custom created cupcakes were inspried by these yummy characters in the Twilight saga. Who do you want to take a bite out of?
